The latest issue of Studia Socjologiczne for this year features an article by Zbigniew Sawiński “Mission ‘Survey Data Harmonization in the Social Sciences’ and the Need for a New Paradigm in Comparative Research.” The article examines the reasons behind the current crisis in international comparative studies that utilize ex-ante harmonization—a method based on repeating the same questions across different countries. Drawing on insights from the recently published book “Survey Data Harmonization in the Social Sciences” and experiences from the CNB-Young project, the author proposes a shift in the model of comparative analysis to one that pays more attention to the specific characteristics of the phenomena being studied in individual countries.
